Norman Jewison is a Canadian filmmaker whose distinguished career spans over 40 years. Born in Toronto in 1926, Jewison began his professional life as a television producer and director in the 1950s before making his mark in the film industry. In the 1960s, Jewison directed numerous iconic films, including In the Heat of the Night (1967) and The Thomas Crown Affair (1968). Working as both a director and producer, his successes continued into the 1970s and 80s with movies like Fiddler on the Roof (1971), Rollerball (1975), and Moonstruck (1987). Jewison retired from directing in the early 2000s, and in his long career, he gave moviegoers many critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies.
