Walter Matthau was a distinctive presence in American cinema, best known for his humorous and often gruff portrayals of middle-aged men. He starred opposite his actor and friend Jack Lemmon in ten films including The Fortune Cookie (1966), The Odd Couple (1968), and Grumpy Old Men (1993).
