Movie Description
Apt Pupil is a 1998 psychological thriller directed by Bryan Singer and based on a novella by Stephen King. High school student Todd Bowden (Brad Renfro) discovers that his elderly neighbor, Kurt Dussander (Ian McKellen), is a former Nazi war criminal in hiding. Instead of turning him in, Todd blackmails Dussander into recounting the atrocities he committed during the Holocaust. As the two spend more time together, their relationship takes a dark turn, with Todd becoming increasingly obsessed with Nazi atrocities and Dussander manipulating the young boy's morbid curiosity. Critics were mixed in their reactions to this disturbing cinematic study of cruelty.
