Free Great Movies Review
"Garbage Day!" The man behind the internet famous Garbage Day meme is actor Eric Freeman. And his starring role in Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 is one of the funniest in any horror movie. What's great about Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 is you basically get two movies for the price of one. The first half of the movie recaps Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) with highlights shown in flashback. Eric Freeman as Ricky Chapman is explaining to a shrink the story of his brother's murderous rampage as an axe wielding Santa Claus. Of course this traumatizes Ricky and he begins his own murderous rampage climaxing with the hilarious Garbage Day sequence. Freeman is the star here and his wacky line deliveries and facial expressions make this a slasher worth watching.
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 is a 1987 American black comedy slasher film edited, co-written with Joseph H. Earle, and directed by Lee Harry. It is the sequel to 1984's Silent Night, Deadly Night, and was followed by Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! in 1989. Its plot focuses on Ricky Caldwell, the brother of Billy Chapman, and his own trauma regarding his parents' Christmas Eve murders, which triggers his own killing spree. The film relies heavily on flashbacks, utilizing approximately 40 minutes of archive footage from the original film. It is the only Silent Night, Deadly Night film to not be released in November.
The film was heavily criticised due to the excessive use of footage from the original film. However, the film does have an audience with slasher fans/horror fans, and has gained a cult following as a black comedy, due to Freeman's performance. In addition, the scene in which Ricky shoots a man who is taking out his trash after shouting the phrase "Garbage Day!" became an Internet meme.
