Hardcore is a 1979 crime drama written and directed by Paul Schrader, starring George C. Scott and Peter Boyle. Jake Van Dorn (Scott) is a conservative businessman from Michigan who embarks on a desperate search for his missing daughter in the seedy underworld of Los Angeles. He discovers she has become involved in the pornography industry, leading him to confront a dark underworld. As Van Dorn digs deeper, he grapples with his own Calvinist beliefs and how far he's willing to go to save his daughter. The film received mostly positive reviews with comparisons to Schrader's script for Taxi Driver (1976).
