Ingrid Bergman was a Swedish actress whose talent and beauty made her one of the most iconic stars in the history of cinema. Born in 1915 in Stockholm, she began her career in Swedish films before transitioning to Hollywood in the early 1940s. Her Hollywood debut was in the English-language remake of Intermezzo (1939). Bergman quickly became one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, with her performances in great films like Casablanca (1942), The Bells of St. Mary's (1945), and Hitchcock's Notorious (1946). Her affair with Italian director Roberto Rossellini in the early 1950s caused a scandal and led her to remain in Europe for several years. But she soon returned to America and starred in many more films until her death in 1982.
