The Devil's Rain stars Ernest Borgnine as a Satanic priest! If that isn't enough to get you excited, then know that Anton LaVey (founder of the Church of Satan himself) served as technical advisor on this film! And it shows. The Satanic production design and rituals are all world class. William Shatner kicks off the movie with a climax of an opening, as his household is under attack from a mysterious man named Corbis in the midst of a rainstorm. The next day Shatner travels to a ghost town in the desert where he meets Corbis (Ernest Borgnine) who takes him directly to the Satanic church in town. Corbis becomes a red robed priest surrounded by many black robed parishioners. After Shatner is captured, we are introduced to our new hero played by Tom Skerritt along with his wife played by Joan Prather. They head to the old western town next and take on the forces of evil embodied in Ernest Borgnine for the rest of the film. The direction and the special effects are well executed, which helps when the plot doesn't totally make sense. It's an essential Satanic cult movie with a bonkers ending that will probably have you laughing. How seriously can you take film where Ernest Borgnine transforms into a Satanic ram? It's a fun time!
